Meet Aya
During the pandemic, amidst growing concerns about food shortages in Hawaii, our founder Aya felt called to support the well-being of her family and community. She embarked on a transformative journey to learn the sacred art of hunting.
Guided by two generous local hunters, she received not only the gift of wild-harvested venison, but also the wisdom of honoring and utilizing the whole animal.
Aya’s journey began with a mission to nourish the students in her prenatal yoga classes, crafting weekly batches of bone broth rich in vital nutrients. These early efforts blossomed into a small-scale operation, where her nourishing broths were shared within the farmers market community.
Determined to expand her impact, Aya enrolled in an MEO business course, developed a business plan, and officially launched Maui Bone Broth in 2023.
Maui Bone Broth’s first official offering was beef bone broth, followed by a partnership with Maui Nui Venison later that year. In 2024, we introduced a new broth made from pasture-raised chickens sourced from Simple Roots Maui.

As Maui Bone Broth’s Chief Tasting Officer, she has been enjoying broth from the very beginning. Knowing she is growing up nourished by homemade broth made with real ingredients and deep care is one of Aya’s greatest joys as a mother.
